The Story Behind Renegade: Camouflage That Refuses to Blend In
I've always loved taking something familiar and challenging myself to see it differently. Camouflage has traditionally been associated with concealment, blending into your surroundings, and sometimes even toughness.
But I kept thinking, what if camouflage could tell a completely different story?
What if it could be bold, expressive, colorful, and unapologetically beautiful?
That's where Renegade began.
Inspired by Nature. Designed to Stand Apart.
There is something magical about fall foliage. The way the colors change, overlap, and create these incredible landscapes without ever asking permission to be beautiful.
The burnt oranges, deep olives, burgundy, earthy greens, and unexpected touches of gold. Individually, they're beautiful. Together, they're extraordinary.
I wanted to capture that feeling in a camouflage print, but not in the traditional sense.
I wanted something abstract. Something with movement. Something that felt almost like an artistic composition, where every color had a purpose and every shape contributed to the story.
And that's how Renegade took shape.
The Three D's: Depth, Dimension & Drama
If you've followed my design journey, you know I believe in the power of the Three D's: Depth, Dimension, and Drama. They're part of how I approach fashion, and Renegade gave me an opportunity to bring all three together.
Because I believe great fashion should give you something to look at, something to feel, and something to remember.
Meet Rumor: Where Sport Meets Artistry
Once I had Renegade, I wanted a silhouette that would complement its energy. Enter Rumor.
I've always loved the juxtaposition of sporty elements with elevated fashion. There's something incredibly modern about taking a familiar athletic silhouette and giving it a luxurious, fashion-forward point of view.
Rumor brings that vision to life. The bold camouflage becomes the canvas, while the contrasting knitted trim adds structure, definition, and an unexpected layer of refinement.

And here's a little something you may not know about me. When I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), I specialized in knitwear, including sweater design and cut-and-sew knits.
Knitwear has always been an important part of my design foundation, although I don't talk about it nearly enough. So when it came to Rumor, incorporating custom-made knitted trim was especially meaningful.
I wanted the trim to do more than finish the garment. I wanted it to become part of the design language, bringing together the colors of Renegade while adding another layer of texture and dimension.
It's those thoughtful details that make a garment feel intentional. Because for me, design isn't simply about putting beautiful fabric on a body. It's about understanding how print, proportion, texture, and silhouette work together to create something special.
Why Renegade?
The name came from the spirit of the print itself. A renegade doesn't necessarily follow the rules. A renegade questions them, challenges expectations, and isn't afraid to do things differently.
And isn't that what personal style should be about?
I've spent more than 30 years designing for women, and one thing I've learned is that the most memorable women aren't necessarily the ones wearing the loudest outfits. They're the ones who wear what they love with conviction.
They understand that getting dressed isn't about disappearing into a crowd. It's about expressing who they are.
The woman who appreciates artistry. Who loves an unexpected detail. Who can wear sneakers one day and heels the next without compromising her sense of style.
More Than a Print. It's a Point of View.
When I look at Renegade, I see more than an abstract camouflage. I see the beauty of breaking away from convention. I see the richness that comes from layering unexpected things together.
And I see another opportunity to remind women that fashion can be playful, powerful, sophisticated, and expressive, all at once.
That's what I want every G'wan design to represent. Not simply something beautiful to wear, but something that makes you feel beautiful, confident, and completely yourself.
Because sometimes the most powerful fashion statement isn't about standing out.
With love and creativity,
