I was born and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands on the island of St. Croix. My name is Charon—spelled with a C, not an S like my aunt Sharon. I grew up in full color: ocean blues, palm trees, carnival energy. That world shaped everything I would later create.
In ninth grade, I had my prom dress made. I sat with the seamstress describing exactly what I wanted a certain bodice, ruffles, the biggest bow. I saw it so clearly. That yellow moment was the very first dress I ever created.

It was 1995. The city was electric. Loud. Fast. Nothing like the life I knew. I was terrified… but also ready. That's the wild part about purpose it calls you before you believe you're ready.
I graduated magna cum laude from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, and I climbed fast. I became a Design Director, heading toward a VP role. The trajectory was clear. The title was within reach.
At F.I.T., I majored in Fashion Design with a focus in Knitwear, and dabbled in Accessories and Millinery Design too (because, of course extra has always been my style). I started working in the heart of the NYC Fashion District and my designs made their way into department stores and boutiques around the country.
At that level in corporate, I was in meetings all day. Approving. Directing. But my hands weren't on the fabric anymore. I wasn't creating. And that loss quietly, slowly hollowed me out.
Then 2008 happened. The crash. Our company folded. I went back to what I loved. Into my sewing room. Just started sewing. Something came alive in me. This is what I was missing. The making
In 2011, coming back from church on Sunday, riding down the West Side Highway with a girlfriend. She said, "You should start a clothing brand." Right there in the car, I pulled out my sketchbook. When I wrote G'wan, I knew. That's it.
I don't just create clothes. I create energy. Patterns that empower. Colorways that carry confidence. Silhouettes that speak your slay. With G'wan, I tell stories of my island upbringing merged with my travels.
I believe in divine inspiration. God and the universe whisper ideas into my spirit. This is more than style. It's spiritual. It's ancestral. It's art. My customers are my muse. They are the reason I design.
